Has fall back to system ping in case of a permissions error been requested in the past? If yes, why has it not been implemented and if no, what are the chances of it being accepted? Thanks Saad

Development stalled, both at cpan and upstream in p5p in the last years. I however maintain an improved version in cperl and would be interested in adding that: RURBAN/Net-Ping-2.49_01.tar.gz https://github.com/rurban/net-ping/ Do you want to write such a patch? I'll be adding it. -- Reini Urban

This is done via the Net::Ping::External module. Use the external protocol for this. -- Reini Urban
