Subject: why the fork?
If there are problems with LWP::Protocol::http::SocketUnix, why not submit those as tickets or patches to that module rather than creating a fork?

I created it quite a while ago and forgot whether I contacted FLORA or not. Anyway sent him an email just now. Anyway, usually my experience is that the original maintainer of a module can respond between days to 6 months, so creating a fork lets me continue my work/project right away and if things can be merged later on it can happen more leisurely.

FLORA is not the only maintainer of that module. Sending email directly to one author is cutting all the other maintainers out of the loop and making it harder for your issues to ever get addressed. Please use the documented ticket tracker to communicate about the module.

Email resent as ticket.
