There are currently three other fail reports on cpantesters which look similar (crash in podtree.t): http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=Tk-Pod%200.9942;os=mswin32;reports=1#sl=0,0 Unfortunately I don't see what all these systems have in common. The analysis page http://analysis.cpantesters.org/solved?distv=Tk-Pod-0.9942 also does not give me a hint about a possible problem due to system differences.

Sorry, it seems that I am blind... This looks like core Tk problem, but one which is not caught by the Tk test suite. Things like this might happen if forking in Windows, but I am quite positive to not fork at all within Tk::Pod under MSWin32, and neither should be a fork in t/podtree.t. Unfortunately, I have only a 32bit Windows VM for testing. So I would be grateful for any help you can give me here --- for example: a stack backtrace, the last lines of a perl trace using "perl -d:Trace -Mblib t/podtree.t", a login to a 64bit Windows... Regards, Slaven

Tk_FreeCursor received unknown cursor argument This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

So it happens in the widget destruction phase. Can you add the following line warn "$ent " . eval { join(" ", %{$w->{$ent}}) } || ''; into .../Tk/Widget.pm, subroutine _destroyed, after the line my $ent = pop(@$a); and send me the log of last 20 or so lines.

It looks like destroying the PodTree widget is causing problems. Does the PodTree widget work at all? Can you run the following simple commands from the Tk-Pod build directory without the perl interpreter crashing? perl -Mblib -MTk -MTk::Pod::Tree -e "tkinit->PodTree->pack->Fill;MainLoop" perl -Mblib -MTk -MTk::Pod::Tree -e "tkinit->PodTree->pack;MainLoop" Regards, Slaven

I hope I'll have access to a 64bit windows this weekend. Otherwise, if you like, you can try to find the point where between the both one-liners and t/podtree.t the crashing starts.

podtree crash on line $mw->after(1*1000,sub{$mw->destroy}); This line doesn't crash if comment this line : $pt->Fill; which said warn "Cannot fork on Windows systems.\n"; in Pod/tree.pm

In Pod/tree.pm, if I comment line 445 : $w->{Pods} = $pods; no crash.

What about commenting the SeePath call in t/podtree.t, and reverting everything else?

I don't understand wht you say !
If I comment $pt->SeePath($path); in podtree.t => no crash

Please try to comment (disable) the line 60 in podtree.t: $pt->SeePath($path); but enable again the line 445 in Pod/Tree.pm.

Can you check if within SubPath in Pod/Tree.pm the anonymous subroutine $see_treepath is called (by putting a warn() or so into the sub)? And if it is called, does it help if you comment one or more of the six method calls in this sub ($w->open, $w->_open_parents etc.)?

#$w->see($treepath); => no crash
Do you need another help ? another test ?

Well, I am out of ideas, and unfortunately the machine I hoped to test on is actually a 32bit system. On a Unix system one would use a tool like "valgrind" to find possible memory violations. I don't know if such a tool exists for Windows, but if something like this exists, then running with it could help...

On windows, it is not Easy to have a tool like valgrind. You have commercial soft. I have test Dr Memory but it not work for test a single script and does not work on 64 bits. I have use Perl module Test::LeakTrace. In Tree.pm, use Tk qw(Ev); use Test::LeakTrace; Construct Tk::Widget 'PodTree'; ... leaktrace{ $w->see($treepath); } -verbose; That is the output before crash : leaked GLOB(0x445b620) from E:/Strawberry/perl/site/lib/Tk/Pod/Tree.pm line 518. 517: leaktrace{ 518: $w->see($treepath); 519: } -verbose; SV = PVGV(0x3bada38) at 0x445b620 REFCNT = 1 FLAGS = (MULTI) NAME = "see" NAMELEN = 3 GvSTASH = 0x22c3698 "Tk::Pod::Tree" GP = 0x43be278 SV = 0x0 REFCNT = 1 IO = 0x0 FORM = 0x0 AV = 0x0 HV = 0x0 CV = 0x28b6578 CVGEN = 0x14 LINE = 518 FILE = "E:/Strawberry/perl/site/lib/Tk/Pod/Tree.pm" FLAGS = 0x2 EGV = 0x445b620 "see" ok 5 Tk_FreeCursor received unknown cursor argument This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
